We want to make submitting as fast and easy as possible. We use this page for both publishers to set up their own info, and for the public to add info to our Hall of Fame listings. To that end, not all parts of all online forms pertain to everyone's reason for being here. Simply ignore things that you don't know. We have split up the submissions into types, and then made the options available as clear as possible in those areas of interest. The HOF is a voluntary system created simply for history's sake.

Creators hold a special place in the universe. People who take the time to create characters, tell stories, make their own realities based around those ideas, deserve all the recognition they can get. We work to provide as much reliable and up to date information about creators we know about, as we can…and make sure you know how and where to get ahold of their work, whenever possible.

1. You do not have to BE the creator to submit information about a creator. Any and all creators we learn about will have their own page in our system that will present everything we know about the creator, alive or dead. Our submission form linked below is designed for anyone to use to send in information, we will compare it to information we already have, attempt to verify anything that needs verified, and go from there.

2. If the creator also published their own work with no company name, their page will dynamically show any publications they put out that we know about, available or not. If they published under one or more company names over time, we will link to publisher pages that do the same for those company names.

3. So that's it, go, fill out the form…help us build the base of information we will use to build the Small Press Hall of Fame.

Dimestore presents many options and opportunities for publishers of anything to make their items known and/or available to the public.

1. You do not have to BE the publisher to submit information about a publisher. ALL publishers we learn about will have a page in our system even if it is just the name that is listed until we can learn more about that company. You obviously cant choose any of the business side info for a company you are not the publisher of, but you can fill in N/A in those spots of the form…and just give us the information you do know.

2. Dimestore will allow you many choices on how you list books and fill orders, so read carefully, make choices that fit your company best, and ask all the questions you need to ask to get set up the way you want to be with us.

3. Most important first step: sign up for your Publisher Page. Go to the form, fill it out, hit enter. Simple as that. We then review and process it into a page that will display all your publications dynamically. It can be enhanced with logos, links to more pages of your custom design, and other things to best present your company, and even be used to present your company's store if you wish. However basic Box Page is free, and is part of the Hall of Fame system as well.

For All Publications:

In our system we list ALL BOOKS that we know exist, whether they are available for sale or not. This lets Dimestore be used as a historical reference of everything small press/ self published that has come and gone. To that end, the store set up lists books multiple ways. And it is in your best interest to develop pages that present your available books in best light, and drive your active sales to your active products. Our goal, though it is still in development, will be to be able to have out of print books be listed for their value in a price guide manor. But for now, out of print and unavailable books will simply say Sold Out, and allow people to sign up to be notified if the status changes. We encourage all publishers to use the system of listing a book as existing to help build the overall database that we are working to build with a number of other historians and sites, including the Self Publisher Hall of Fame.

You want to make sure that the publications that are for sale and available are listed as such. These are our options, depending on your needs. In any and all cases, we Really, really want to have and keep ONE COPY of anything, for the HOF, but it is REQUIRED for those that are available for sale in our store, so plan for that.

1. Order Forwarding. If you want your books to be listed as available, but have us order the copies from you individually, and give you the address of who to ship it to, we will list your book as shipping by Order Forward. We will put 100 copies in your book's potential sales (inventory) so that it is active in the system, and if and when we sell to that level, we will request renewal of the item to make sure that you plan to keep it in stock. Order forwarding has inherent problems which some customers tend to avoid books for sale that way, so keep that in mind. Shipping is automatically calculated and collected in the order process, and is credited to your account for payout with the payout for sale of the book. So simply put, we get an order, tell you to fill it, you do, and then your account is credited for the payout (either 90% of cover to individuals, 80% of cover to Gold Members, AND, you are credited the shipping). Payout periods explained below.

2. Consignment. Any books that you want to have set as READY TO SHIP in our system - showing how many copies we have in stock to potential customers, we will take up to 5-10 copies sight unseen - and put them immediately into the store as inventory. These can be new publications or things you've had for a long time. If you would like Dimestore to have any more copies, please make arrangements ahead of time. Consignment means that Dimestore does not pay up front for the copies, we will hold them and take them to shows with us, and pay out on the payout as they sell. If at any time you want your copies returned to you, you must pay for the shipping of the copies UP FRONT, before we will ship them to you.

3. UP-Front Sales: If your books develop a following through Dimestore, Dimestore will move your books into a preferred status, and buy/re-order copes of titles that show staying power. This will be done on a solely by-case basis, as we have developed our business relationship. You will be then paid UP FRONT for copies, and they will be listed in stock, and there is no later payout to you, we've already paid for the copies.

4. PRE-Sale Publishers. Publishers that we have solid working relationships with will be able to set up new releases in our system on a pre-sale basis, and then use the sales to help set their needed print runs. We will work with each publisher's needs be it a POD or a Full Run printing situation, whether you use SPA Printing options - or your own. We do not have restrictions on how you print your books…we will just pay you on the sales at the set options you set for the book.

Getting a book LISTED: Listing the book is easy. When we get a copy, or is reviewed in Self Publisher! Magazine, or we otherwise learn of it through data sharing, the book's title and placement is made almost immediately if we can't find it already in the system. As soon as it is in the system, you can submit information to enhance it's listing. You can also submit the info before sending a copy. It will be listed ASAP from that. DOWNLOAD SYSTEM

WHY "FREE" DOWNLOADS? The answer is simple: A Pay-per-item system of downloads encourages piracy. It instantly creates it's own black market as someone cracks "secure" files and they get shared. So, with a system that is VERY easy to use - and that people know using it will earn the publishers real $$ even as they get "free" stuff - you get a center for readers to discover your stuff. When they see you at shows, they will want your printed books - and - we also make them available here - so they get the best of all worlds, no matter who you are published by, or what printer you use, or what.

How Does It Work? We have a $10/year Gold Membership level. It gives the person access to "free" downloads and discounts and other stuff. $6.00 of that goes into the payout pool…spread out over a year…so if there's 2000 active downloaders - $6 divided by 12, times 2000 = $1000.00 into the payout pool each month. That's just an example, we're hoping there'll be 10's of 1000's of downloaders. But anyway, add to that whatever advertising we can sell on a per month basis…80% of the proceeds from ads sold for banners on this site, and part of advertisement in Self Publisher Magazine, will go into that pool as well. So, then, whatever the number is reached for the monthly payout, say $2,000 as an example, then gets divided by the total number of downloads made in a month, and then shared equally by how many of those downloads were YOUR book. So say there were 10,000 downloads, each one was then worth 20 cents. If your book made up 200 of those downloads, you'd get $40. We obviously don't have actual figures to share yet…but that should show the concept. Full records of past numbers will be put on a page in a graph, so you can see what kind of payouts we are able to generate over time. Payout is based on the same payout system for all things here at Dimestore. The memberships will create a BASELINE payout pool, and advertising on top of that will probably fluctuate (and hopefully escalate!) as time goes by and more and more people are downloading free PDF comics.

How do you get in? Well, there will be a new option in the Product Form, for DOWNLOADABLE. So we'd basically use the same form for ANY publication, and if you want it to be available for download only, you'll have that option, or you can plan your print sales AND add the downloadable option, and we'd just clone your product from the publications section, and make a downloadable version. So if you have publications already IN the system, adding a Downloadable one is as simple as requesting it…and then getting the correctly formatted PDF in to us.

How do I get my PDF in - with the right settings? Well, basically, you can make your own PDFs if you want. We're looking for lower-resolution versions, so set your PDF printer to 72 DPI, that is FINE on screen, and while we will add copy and print protection here, it's more of a discouragement to print if the resolution isn't good for print, plus it makes file sizes smaller for faster downloads. If you do NOT have it in you to PDF your book, we can do it for you but we're going to ask that - basically - we get a set up fee. The files can be set up to be PRINT READY if you wish, so you can take them to ANY PRINTER. That will ensure your files PDF correctly. Dimestore does not currently handle actual PRINTING of books at all. Also remember: Downloadable PDF versions can be in FULL COLOR, so the days of planning your work to have full color and grayscale versions for print (at least till full color short run printing REALLY becomes viable) are here. Webcomics? Bah! Serialize your presentation into digital issues and sell ads, it's the future!

ENHANCEMENTS

To add any enhancement, please e-mail: Enhancements@dimestoreproductions.com we will discuss it and work with you to get what you want. There are ways to get free enhancements, or you can buy them. There are also options on how you pay for the enhancements. We can take paypal, or take it out of your active account. We can't however, offer publishers who are new to the system, "credit" against possible sales.

Adding Custom HTML to your Publisher's Box. For a $5.00 insertion fee you can make your manufacturers box a customized display. You can add HTML to display additional information about you and your company, include a menu of links to your sites, different series or custom pages within our catalog (to easily bring up all available issues of a given title, etc.) and whatever else you can think of in HTML. Custom@dimestoredistro.com?subject=Customize Publisher's Box Once you are happy and the html is set, later changes can be made at a $1.00 update fee. This fee can be drawn simply from your payouts, by request.

Adding Custom HTML to your Product Listing. For a $5.00 insertion fee per book - OR, if you RUN the Proud Member SPA Logo and website address ANYWHERE in a book, you can add as much additional info to your book's listing as you like, add a menu to your website's presentation of the characters or world of the series, link in additional interior pages of the book to display on our website (images must be online somewhere they can be linked in, if we get reports of dead images, and you don't have them in the same spot anymore, it will cost $1.00 again to change the HTML to point to the images elsewhere, or the images will be deleted). We will work with you to make sure you are happy with the display, before it is final and change fees would only apply after that.

Hosted Pages. $8.00 Insertion Fee, per page. A 1 time fee (you can change an existing page for just $1.00). If you want to develop your own custom "Store Front", within Dimestore, that presents your company with your own HTML in the pages that can basically include anything you want (No R rated or above pages will be allowed at Dimestore at this time. If we can develop an Age Restricted area or membership level, we may change that, if demand is there). The only limitations are that the pages will appear wrapped inside the rest of the site. We will provide the custom, Search engine friendly URL that will bring up your pages, based on the page name you provide.

THE PAYOUT SCALE

1. Dimestore pays out when an account reaches $10.00, or once a month when it has. So a slow seller will build up until they reach payout level. A fast seller, will get paid once a month.

2. Dimestore pays out on publications sold online to individuals at 90% of the cover price. That's the public, people browsing. Gold Members get an additional 10% off on SELECTED items, Items that the publisher has said go ahead and allow gold members to get their stuff cheaper. Anything available to Retailers will be default be available to Gold Members at 80% off cover. If you do NOT want your retailer-available book to be available at additional discount to Gold Members, you need to specifically note to us so in set-up. So if you have sent books in for consignment, you will be credited to your account upon the sale of each copy. If you are with us on an Order Forward basis, we will forward the correct % of the cover price, plus the calculated first class shipping rate for the book(s). You do not have to take postage loss! That % of cover is yours.

3. If you choose to be available to Stores, only copies sold to stores will be paid out at 40% of cover price. The store gets 50% off, Dimestore still gets 10%. This would include limited-time availability to stores such as pre-sale periods, and long term availability via consignment, or order forward sales if a store orders a copy of a back issue for a customer of their store. If Dimestore agrees to buy sets of copies to have them in stock, Dimestore will need to buy them at the Distribution rate of 40% of cover price. Dimestore only buys up-front for copies on a per-case basis, of books that we want to ensure stay in stock, or take to shows with us.
